The dining room renovation coincided with the living room’s makeover. The two rooms are basically shared, and the only thing that substantially changed in the dining room were the floors.

Behind the Scenes

By opening up the wall on the right side (it was formerly the apartment), we were able to make the dining room walls all matching cedar. And now we have the space to really extend our dining room table when we have guests over to eat!

We found this wonderful antique hutch on Facebook Marketplace, and it displays our special dishes perfectly. It’s missing a piece of trim on the right side, but you would never know it! The light fixture is from a maker on Etsy, and it just adds to the warmth of the space.

Steve also removed the door the leads to the upstairs (yes, oddly enough, there was a door there). He made the doorway taller to make it feel less cramped when you are walking down the stairs to the dining room/living room. It’s made a world of difference (I was hitting my head off of it!).
